About us

INTRO
RoK Guelwar Guesthouse & Vinothèque is a calm boutique hideaway in Warang (Petite Côte) — a short walk from the Atlantic and an easy drive from Dakar.
Here, quiet comfort meets warm hospitality, thoughtful design, and a love for culture, food, and wine.
The Story
For more than 25 years, Klaus Grütjen and Adji Rose Faye Gruetjen have lived and worked across Sub-Saharan Africa. RoK Guelwar grew from their journeys — and from the wish to create a place that feels both peaceful and connected: a guesthouse for rest, conversation, and beautiful everyday moments.
The name Guelwar honors the Serer heritage of this region — a symbol of history, roots, and continuity.
“RoK Guelwar is, for us, a place of calm, connection, and genuine hospitality — a home shaped by our journeys and shared with our guests.”
— Adji Rose & Klaus
“We believe travel should feel personal — unhurried, authentic, and rooted in place.”
— RoK Guelwar Guesthouse

Vinothèque
Wine is part of how we bring people together.
Our vinothèque reflects years of collaboration with independent European winemakers.
Tastings, shared dinners, and occasional wine events — sometimes under baobab trees, sometimes at the table — create moments of exchange, pleasure, and connection.
